We conclude the second edition of the program "I am a woman, I am an electrician"
Aug 28, 2024On August 28, our 19 young beneficiaries successfully completed the second promotion of the I am a woman, I am an electrician program, a joint initiative between SENATI and the companies Sonepar and Legrand.
With the support of our allies, the Peruvian Army and the Caritas Foundation, we were able to learn about their stories and include them in our program that aims to empower women in the electrical sector by providing full scholarships for training courses that provide them with the necessary skills to carry out basic electrical installations at home.
This initiative not only promotes female inclusion in a traditionally male-dominated field, but also strengthens their independence and expands their job opportunities in the sector. According to UNESCO data, globally, only 35% of students in STEM careers (linked to science, technology, engineering and mathematics) are women, and, in the Peruvian case, according to SUNEDU, the percentage is close to 30%.
It’s important to highlight that at Indeco by Nexans we have granted students with the five best averages a full sponsorship to continue their professional studies at SENATI, through a scholarship that covers the entire costs of the Industrial Electricity career. In addition, they will be able to carry out their professional internships in our company, which is a leader in the development of electrical wiring and connectivity solutions present throughout the electrification chain.
The “I Am a Woman, I Am an Electrician” program is a clear testimony of our commitment to equity and empowerment of the female gender in the electrical industry. Thus creating opportunities for women to train, develop and assume leadership roles.
