Nexans Indeco wins contract to supply the cabling system for "Punta Lomitas", the largest wind farm in Peru
Nov 3, 2021At the end of 2020, 49 renewable energy projects were executed in Peru, according to the Ministry of Energy and Mines, which represent an additional 1,080 MW to the national electricity system, and stem from the need to meet the energy requirements of the population. Thus, the "Punta Lomitas" project was born, the largest wind farm in Peru, located between the districts of Ocucaje and Santiago in the Ica region.
In this project, Indeco by Nexans will participate as one of the key players for its implementation, being in charge of the medium voltage network and grounding of the wind farm, through the supply of aluminum medium voltage cables and bare copper cables; electrical works in which it participates together with the company Cosapi. These cables will connect the wind farm, along its 60 kilometers, to the National Interconnected Electrical System (SEIN).
“ We are very proud to participate in such an important project. This reaffirms our commitment to the development of renewable energies in the country, as well as in the region, hand in hand with our goal of becoming a carbon neutral company by 2030; thus, ensuring a more secure, sustainable, decarbonized, renewable and, above all, accessible future for all in terms of energy ”
Luis Ernesto Silva
Vice President of the Andean Business Unit at NexansAlso, in line with our principles of safety and innovation, the conductors supplied are not of standard features, as they have a copper wire screen with longitudinal moisture blocking under and over the screen, which prevents liquids from entering the cable and allows its normal operation when it starts to be powered.
“ We, at Indeco by Nexans, are very committed to providing innovative and comprehensive solutions that allow the responsible use of natural resources for the generation of clean energy ”
